Fr. Tom Ryan devoted over 60 years to the Diocese of Grand Island—as a pastor, educator, and Superintendent of Schools—always championing the value of Catholic education.

One moment perfectly captured his passion. After a daily Mass at St. Mary’s Cathedral, Executive Director Jolene Wojcik told him that the people of Central Catholic had decided to build a new Catholic elementary school. Tears of joy filled his eyes. He understood what this school would mean for children, families, and the faith community for generations to come.

Fr. Tom’s generosity continued even beyond his lifetime. In his estate, he remembered several Catholic parishes and schools, including Central Catholic, leaving a transformative gift of $1,000,000.

His legacy will help ensure that the gift of a Catholic education continues to inspire and nurture countless students. Fr. Tom’s life reminds us that dedication, faith, and generosity can leave a lasting impact far beyond our own time.
